Wyze Sense Hub Not Connecting

If your Wyze Sense Hub is not connecting to your Wyze account, you might be facing any of these issues:

  • Your Wyze Sense Hub is not connected to power.
  • Your Wyze app is outdated.
  • You haven’t enabled Bluetooth permissions for your Wyze account.
  • Your router is broadcasting on a 5GHz network.

Now let’s look at some troubleshooting tips for this problem.

How to Troubleshoot a Wyze Sense Hub that Won’t Connect?

Here are some troubleshooting steps to try:

1. Ensure Your Wyze Sense Hub is Connected to Power

If your Wyze Sense Hub is not connected to power, it won’t connect to the internet. So, when the Wyze Sense Hub doesn’t connect, check if the device is powered on.

Your Wyze Sense Hub is connected to power if there are one or more lights on the device. But if you don’t find any lights on the hub, the plug for the device may have loosened from your power outlet. Insert the plug into the power outlet properly to fix this issue.

If the lights on your Wyze Sense Hub don’t turn on after this, your power outlet may be faulty. Plug the hub into another power outlet to resolve the problem.

Your Wyze Sense Hub should be powered on now, and the device should connect to your account. However, if the hub doesn’t connect, move on to the next step.

2. Update Your Wyze App

If your Wyze Sense Hub isn’t connecting, your Wyze app might be outdated. There might be a glitch in your outdated Wyze app preventing the hub from connecting.

In addition, some older versions of the Wyze app don’t even support the Wyze Sense Hub.

Once you update your Wyze app, your Wyze Sense Hub should connect to your account.

Take the following steps to update your Wyze app:

  • Open your Google Play Store or App Store.
  • Enter “Wyze app” in the search bar.
  • Your Wyze app should appear at the top of search results. Click on the app to continue.
  • The Wyze app download page will now appear. Tap Update to update your Wyze app.

After updating your Wyze app, try connecting your Wyze Sense Hub to your account again. If the hub fails to connect, continue to the next tip.

3. Turn on Bluetooth Permissions for Your Wyze App on Your Phone

Your Wyze app needs Bluetooth to connect to the Wyze Sense Hub. But if the Wyze app can’t access your Bluetooth settings, the hub won’t be able to connect to your account.

You can fix this issue by turning on Bluetooth permissions for your Wyze app.

Follow the guide below to activate Bluetooth permissions for your Wyze app:

  • Open your Settings app. Then select Apps.
  • Next, click on your Wyze app.
  • Select Permissions.
  • You’ll see a list of options under two sections: Allowed and Denied. The Bluetooth option should be under Denied. Next, tap Bluetooth.
  • Then click on Allow all the time to activate Bluetooth permissions for the app.

If your Wyze Sense Hub doesn’t connect to your account after you’ve turned on Bluetooth permissions for the Wyze app, try the next tip.

4. Switch to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi Network

If your Wyze Sense Hub is not connecting, your smartphone may be connected to a 5GHz Wi-Fi network.

While your smartphone may support 5GHz and 2.4GHz Wi-Fi networks, your Wyze Sense Hub only works with 2.4GHz networks.

If your phone is connected to a 5GHz network, you’ll need to switch to a 2.4GHz network to connect to your Wyze Sense Hub.

How do you know if your phone is connected to a 5GHz Wi-Fi network? If the network includes the number 5, it is a 5GHz network.

Connect only to Wi-Fi networks without the number 5 in it. Such Wi-Fi networks are 2.4GHz networks. After connecting to the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network, try connecting your Wyze Sense Hub to the Wyze app.

If the hub still fails to connect, forget all your Wi-Fi networks.

Here’s how to forget all your Wi-Fi networks from your phone:

  • Tap on your Settings app to open it.
  • Then click on System or General.
  • Select Reset Options.
  • Then click on Reset Network Settings to forget all your Wi-Fi networks.

After forgetting your Wi-Fi networks, reboot your phone and link the phone to your 2.4GHz network. Then connect your Wyze Sense Hub to your Wyze app. The hub should connect after this.

But if you still can’t connect your Wyze Sense Hub to your Wyze app, power cycle your router.

To power cycle your router, unplug the device from your power outlet. Then wait 30 seconds before plugging the router back into the power outlet.

After rebooting your router, click on your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network to connect to it. Then, set up your Wyze Sense Hub again.

If the hub still isn’t connecting, check out the next tip.

5. Connect Your Wyze Sense Hub to Your Router Using an Ethernet Cable

If the hub still won’t connect to your Wyze app, the final tip might fix the issue.

6. Reset Your Wyze Sense Hub

What if your Wyze Sense Hub doesn’t connect to your Wyze app after you’ve tried all the tips above? Then, you’ll need to reset the hub.

To reset your Wyze Sense Hub, press and hold the Reset button on the hub for 10 seconds. You’ll find the Reset button at the back of the hub.

Your Wyze Sense Hub will turn off. After a few seconds, the hub will turn on again.

Connect the hub to your Wyze account now. The Wyze Sense Hub should successfully connect to your account.

Your Wyze Sense Hub shouldn’t have problems connecting to your Wyze app after a reset. However, if the hub fails to connect after resetting the device, contact the Wyze support team.
