Is your Schlage BE365 malfunctioning, and you’re not sure how to go about the issue? We’re here to help!

Schlage BE365 Troubleshooting

In this post, we’ve put together some handy tips to help you troubleshoot common issues with your Schlage BE365. If that sounds like what you’re looking for, let’s head right into it.

How to Troubleshoot Schlage BE365 Keypad Lock?

If your Schlage BE365 is malfunctioning (won’t unlock, not locking, programming code not working, etc.), here are some troubleshooting steps to try:

1. Reinstall the Battery

Your lock might stop working properly because the battery polarities have reversed. So, the first troubleshooting step to try if your Schlage BE365 is malfunctioning is to remove the battery and insert it back in.

When inserting the batteries, check the battery terminals to see if there’s any corrosion. If so, use a soft cloth to clean the battery terminals. Next, insert the battery back in and ensure you follow the correct battery polarity markings (+/-).

If your Schlage BE365 still malfunctions after this, continue to the next.

2. Replace the Battery

If your Schlage BE365 was working properly but suddenly stopped, the battery might be low or completely drained.

Your Schlage BE365 runs on battery power, and some features may stop working if the battery is low/dead.

So, if your Schlage BE365 is malfunctioning (blinks green but won’t unlock, not locking, the programming code not working, etc.), replace the battery to fix the problems.

Schlage BE365 uses 1 9V alkaline battery. Get a new battery and replace the old one. Ensure you don’t use a lithium battery—as using lithium batteries in this lock may cause some malfunctions.

If your Schlage Lock is still giving you problems after changing the battery, continue to the next step.

3. Reset the Lock

Resetting your Schlage Lock is a go-to solution for several problems with the lock. So, if your Schlage BE365 Keypad Deadbolt is still malfunctioning after applying the fixes above, try resetting it.

However, note that resetting your Schlage BE365 will remove all your previous programming. That is, all your User Codes, auto-lock settings, etc., will be erased, meaning you have to program the lock again after the reset (using the default Programming Code).

And ensure you have the default Programming Code to hand before proceeding with the reset. You can find the default Programming Code on the user manual that came with the lock (printed on a white label).

If you don’t have the user manual, remove the lock from the door to find the default Programming Code on the back of the interior assembly (printed on a white label).

That said, here’s how to reset your Schlage B365:

  • Remove the battery cover of the lock by sliding it up.
  • Disconnect the battery. Then press and release the Schlage button.
  • Now, reconnect the battery. Then press and hold the Schlage button until the status light turns green, followed by a beep. This step should be completed within 10 seconds, as the programming may timeout if you exceed 10 seconds.
  • Now your lock is reset.

The lock should work fine after this. You can reprogram the lock and start using it. If you’re not sure how to reprogram your Schlage Lock (add/change User Codes), see how to change/add codes on your Schlage Lock.

4. Reinstall the Lock

Did you just install your Schlage BE365, and it starts malfunctioning right away? If so, the installation might be incorrect.

Incorrect installation can cause some malfunctions in your Schlage BE365—such as not locking or won’t unlock after entering a User Code.

To resolve this problem, remove the lock from the door and reinstall it properly. Refer to your user manual for installation guidelines. If you’re not sure how to install the lock properly, get an expert to help you.

Sometimes, you can easily troubleshoot your Schlage BE365 by replacing the battery. However, if this doesn’t help, you can try other troubleshooting steps, such as resetting and reinstalling the lock.
